been a while, has been a busy winter managing the farm with lots of rain and mud. On the positive, will make a for a beautiful spring and green pastures for grazing.
We are expecting lambs any day now, my favorite part of the year! Coco, our Finnsheep x Lincoln is due anytime, I'm keeping a close eye on her for any signs of labor, Also our registered Finnsheep, Freesia shouldn't be far behind her.
In between the mud management, pregnant ewe management and getting stalls ready for birthing, I have been practicing my spinning. I'm FINALLY catching on and boy is it addictive! I'm very pleased with the result of the roving I received back from the woolen mill a few weeks ago. Also excited to get some listed on my ETSY page which I will link here once it is active, shouldn't be long!
Top left: Coco with her pregnant belly. She had twins last year, now the wait to see if there are triplets or more. Top right: A bag full of soft, bouncy lambs roving from Penelope. Penelope is Finn x Gulfcoast Native/Babydoll. Makes for a beautiful fiber. Bottom left: A beautiful ball of roving from Kettle. Kettle is a Babydoll x Romney. I love the rich browns with flecks of taupe throughout. Not as soft as Penelope's roving but plenty of bounce. Will make for a beautiful toboggan or gloves. Bottom right: A squishy ball of Penelope's fiber.
